The simple, yet captivating paint scheme of red
ribbons draped over the yellow car may be best showcased from this head
on view of the car. This is one of the first two cars in Fly's
GB Track line which features cars at a lower price point than the rest
of the Fly Car Model line. This Porsche 917 Spyder doesn't suffer
in the least for it.

Without a full spare tire mounted in the rear,
we are afforded an unobstructed view of the engine detail.

It's apparent that there are no frills or bells
and whistles adorning this slot car. This is a basic race car. It's
kinda got a MacDonald's color scheme.

Like the Steve
McQueen 917, the wheels are simple back 5-spokers wrapped with white
lettered racing tires.

Here's a closer look at getting-run-over level.
The screen in the grill is the same as the one in the Lolas.

My Review: Let me start by saying I don't have any timing software running on my track, which is a small 16' figure 8 (Scalextric Circuit 2). I also remove any traction magnets from my cars to give them the tail hangin' sliding handling I love. This is one of 2 initial offerings by Fly in the GB Track line (both are 917 Spyders). There isn't a whole lot to the car in terms of nifty detailing, but what is there is done very well. The red "ribbons" that flow along the body are outlined in a fine black line. The driver figure looks good and he's got a fire bottle at his side. Performance is great. The chassis is the same sidewinder that is in the res of the Fly Classic line. Rear axle slop? None whatsoever. The body is also short (like the Ferrari 512S) so the handling is pretty solid--not too much oversteer. Without an extra tire in the rear (full spare), the car is much easier to keep in line than my Steve McQueen 917. I've gotta agree with FHW's review of this car. It's not only fast and easy to drive, it's easy to drive consistently fast. I think it may be one of my top 4 or 5 cars in performance. |
