This is one of Fly's Steve McQueen Special Edition
cars. It's the #20 Gulf Porsche featured in the film Le Mans.
Part of the reason I go this car was because I couldn't get the
Gulf GT40, which I now find out Fly will be producing next year. Can't
wait till then! Hey, look at the grill. That's a separate
screen that slides into notch in the chassis and makes for great looks
on the assembled car.

This is another car that Fly has appointed with
the full spare tire. I don't care how much it hinders performance,
I like it!

The simple black 5-spoke wheels and white lettered
tires work very well on this car. You can also see that the front
fender vents are open, and light is shining through to the tires.

My Review: Let me start by saying I don't have any timing software running on my track, which is a small 16' figure 8 (Scalextric Circuit 2). I also remove any traction magnets from my cars to give them the tail hangin' sliding handling I love. This is one of my favorites. I don't know if it's because it's a special edition or because it's just plain cool. The detailing is typical high level Fly. I particularly like the full spare (real rubber) tire. I think the handling does suffer for it. This is not one of my best performers on the track. It is prone to too much oversteer--I mean beyond the fun sliding. When I run it against a Pacer car, it has a hard time making a pass or even getting into a position to pass. Despite the shortcomings in performance, I still love to race this car. |
